Forum Posting Guidelines
These posting guidelines are intended to keep the East Bay Prospectors website and forums civil, useful, family-friendly, and focused on prospecting, mining, club business, and member information.
General Forum Use
Members are encouraged to use the forum for:
- Prospecting and mining information
- Club business
- Member updates
- Birthday greetings and similar club-related posts
- Helpful discussion and information exchange
Our goal is to keep moderation to a minimum. If an issue comes up, please contact the webmaster, a moderator, or a board member directly.
Posting Rules

| Language, Nudity & Profanity | This is a family website. Gratuitous profanity or nudity is not allowed. As a general standard, content should remain similar to a PG rating. |
| Personal Attacks | Personal attacks are not allowed. This includes negative comments based on race, ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. Constructive discussion related to mining issues is permitted. |
| Good-Natured Ribbing | Friendly joking is acceptable as long as both parties understand the intent and it remains respectful. |
| Political Discussions | Political discussions must be focused on mining-related issues. Non-mining politics and partisan political content may be removed. |
| Links to Other Sites | Links are permitted when relevant, but should add to the discussion rather than replace a member’s own prospecting report or helpful information. |
| Offensive Linked Content | Please think carefully before posting links that may contain offensive material. If appropriate, include a warning so members can decide whether to view the content or allow children to view it. |
| Promotions & Advertising | Advertising or promotional use of the site requires prior board approval. Unauthorized advertising may be removed, including promotional content in personal profiles. |
| Event Postings | Events from other clubs or organizations may be posted with board approval, provided they do not conflict with East Bay Prospectors-sponsored activities. |
Infractions & Forum Removal
It is our hope that no member will need to be removed from the forums. However, if a serious issue occurs, the following process may apply:
- Posts or behavior considered disruptive or detrimental to the club may be locked, edited, or removed by a moderator.
- The poster will be contacted and the issue will be discussed.
- The moderation team may review the post and decide whether to leave it removed, edit and reinstate it, or reinstate it in its original form.
- If dismissal from the site may be appropriate, the issue will be brought to club leadership before action is taken.
- Member removal requires approval from the moderators and the Club President.
- Removal communication will come from the President of East Bay Prospectors or, if directed, the Communications Director.
Removal from the forum should be a last resort. We hope all members will follow these guidelines and enjoy participating in the East Bay Prospectors forums.
